Review | Detroit Beer Company

Gerrae Cotton | Bougie Foodie

The Detroit Beer Company is the perfect place to go before or even after supporting two of your favorite Detroit sports teams, Detroit Lions or Detroit Tigers. Because it is located just steps away from the people mover, parking isn’t a problem even though it’s right next to the YMCA, Punch Bowl Social, Opera House, and sports arenas. Though the restaurant has two floors of seating and an outdoor patio be prepared to wait on a game night.

While waiting, you can try The Detroit Beer Company’s enjoyable selection of brewed beers at the bar upstairs or downstairs. The five large tanks behind the bar hold some of the best beer you will ever taste. Although they change with the season, I usually go with the Broadway Light. They also have seasonal appetizers. They once had Gouda cheese sticks that were to die for but unfortunately it has been replaced with some other awesome item.

The regular menu consists of your classic pub food. The burgers are paired with waffle fries though!  I’ve always had a love for waffle fries because they were a delicacy in my Detroit Public School upbringing. Turkey patties are available to substitute for the burgers but I usually choose pizza because what else goes better with beer. On your way out you can take a growler of your favorite beer to go. I had to have one just for the awesome Detroit logo. Check out their happy hour too! It consists of 75 cents off pints and ½ off appetizers from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm!
