Falling Forward

Transitioning your summer pieces into your fall wardrobe

The season all fashion lovers adore is here. It’s time to say goodbye to swimsuits and sandals and hello to our beloved boots and sweaters. With the changing seasons come changing wardrobes but luckily our favorite wardrobe staples are here to stay. Here’s how to incorporate a little of that summer heat into your coolest fall fashions.

Layers! Layers! Layers!

Layering in fall is as essential as apple cider and Halloween! It’s a season where the temperature can be iffy, so layering makes it easy to adjust to the not-so-sure temperatures. Wearing multiple layers is the perfect way to still wear your summer staples but in a new, more season appropriate way.

Crop Tops and Tanks

Good news! Your favorite summer crops and tanks can still be worn into your fall wardrobe by adding a chic outer layer. Adding a cardigan or long sleeved shirt to your look will keep you cute and your body will thank you for the added warmth. Pair with high waist jeans or trousers to pull off the perfect fall look.

Shorts and Skirts

While you may love to show off your legs in shorts and skirts during the summer you can still wear these pieces in a fun and funky way; tights! Although tights may take you back to your childhood they are the perfect way to keep your legs warm while still showing off a little skin. Be bold! Colored tights add the perfect pop to the normally neutral fall palate or a print that can give your shorts and skirts a whole new look!

Dresses

One of my favorite things to wear during the summer are dresses. They are quick and easy to wear and keep you cool throughout the day. You can transform those sexy summer looks to fierce fall fashion with the use of two items: a jacket and a scarf. Depending on the length, look, and style of the dress you can pair it with a leather jacket, bomber, military jacket, or blazer. Pair it with a tonal scarf or something bright and printed for a bolder look.

Although you have to leave the sunshine and blue skies behind, you don’t have to leave your favorite summer trends. So don’t pack away your summer pieces just yet, bring them fabulously into fall.
